Four additional colourways of the adidas Originals Continental 80 will be released globally on November first, which will bring the total number of colour options for the collection to ten.
The retro trainer, which made its debut in 1986, checks off all of our boxes to qualify it as a classic. Underpinned by a rubber cupsole unit, the soft leather upper invokes a flashback to the original aerobics craze (legwarmers not included – cue Flashdance soundtrack).
Details such as the perforated toebox, a pronounced heel-shaped outsole, and the brand-box under the eyestay are all signature items of shoes from that era. The modern Continental 80 uses an EVA midsole for shock absorption and differentiates itself by using a more exciting colour palette.
Arguably more conservative than the pastel colourways that hit the shelves at the end of August (yellow, pink, and blue), the latest colour options consist of deeper hues that include maroon, grey, navy and yellow colorways.
